Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Am I able to use my No Claims Discount (NCD) or No Claims Bonus (NCB) on more than one policy?

A: Unfortunately not - NCD can only be applied to one vehicle at a time on one policy. NCD proof will only be issued in the event of the cancellation or lapse of a policy. You will receive one year's NCD for each 12 month period you are insured without making a claim.

Q: Will I be charged if I cancel my policy?

A: Yes - in common with other insurance providers, its4me has a standard cancellation charge which is £30.00 on all policies. Monthly direct debit payers will also be charged an additional monthly payment after the date of cancellation. Annual payers will be charged short term rates as dictated by the individual insurer. Please refer to your policy booklet for details of the cancellation charges imposed by your insurer. Full details of our cancellation charges are available for you to view online during the quote process.

Q: If I cancel my RAC breakdown cover mid term will I receive a refund?

A: The RAC does not issue a refund if you decide to cancel your breakdown cover during the year.

Q: I am renewing my policy with its4me but they are requesting my proof of NCD?

A: If you are an existing customer with its4me, you do not need to send us your proof of NCD, even if you have renewed with a different insurer on our panel. If this is the case, we will transfer the information to the new insurer.

Q: I have been unable to print my documents online - will they be sent to me?

A: Yes - our online system will recognise that you have been unable to print your documents. A full set of documentation will be sent via first class post the following working day.

Q: Do you accept company car or foreign NCD?

A: Unfortunately we cannot - your NCD must have been earned on a private UK car insurance policy that has been cancelled or lapsed within the last two years.

Q: Is there a 14 day "cooling off" period?

A: Yes, you have a right to cancel your insurance within 14 days of receipt of your policy documentation. If you exercise this right to cancel you will be charged by the insurer for the service provided up to the point of cancellation. We will also make a cancellation charge of £30.00 and our service charge of up to £11.95 in setting up your policy is not refundable. These charges will be deducted from any return of premium due to you on cancellation.

Q: My quote seems slightly higher than expected - why could this be?

A: its4me works hard to obtain the most competitive rates from our panel of insurers. Unfortunately, there are certain charges that are unavoidable in order to keep our base premiums as low as possible. As a broker we charge a broker fee, which covers the cost of setting up a new policy with an insurer. This fee is £6.95 for customers purchasing online and £11.95 for those purchasing over the telephone. Details of the broker fee applicable to your policy are displayed before the final purchase screen. If you decide to pay by credit card, banks charge us a 2% fee of the total premium which, in order to keep our premiums low, we must pass on to the customer.

Q: Is my quote guaranteed?

A: No - in order to remain competitive we update our prices monthly to reflect the new rates offered by our panel of insurers. Hopefully, this should mean your quote would be less following a rates change. In some cases, a rates change could result in a different insurer being most competitive for you. When you retrieve your quote online, it will be automatically updated to reflect the latest insurer rates.

Q: I may need the use of a courtesy car - is this included on my policy?

A: The use of a courtesy car is offered on our Comprehensive policies. If your vehicle requires repairs following an accident, you must take it to an approved repairer in order to qualify for the courtesy car. You will be advised of your nearest approved repairer when you make your claim. All courtesy cars are subject to availability. Please note you are not entitled to a courtesy car whilst your vehicle is undergoing routine maintenance.

Q: I am having problems finding my occupation or vehicle on the quote form - what should I do?

A: The best way to contact us if you are having problems confirming your information is by calling us on 0870 0131 464.
