car maintenance

for hassle-free driving follow these simple pieces of advice:

Most wear and tear to the engine occurs in the first ten to twenty minutes of a journey so always accelerate slowly.

Don't warm the engine by letting it idle. If the engine doesn't operate at peak temperature this can result in incomplete fuel combustion, soot deposits on cylinder walls, oil contamination, and damaged components.

Put less strain on your engine, shift to neutral at red lights.

Don't drive at high speeds or accelerate quickly, especially when it's very hot or very cold outside.

Extend the life of your tyres with careful driving; observe speed limits and avoid fast starts, stops, and turns.

Consolidate your short driving trips. Most of the wear and tear - as well as the pollution your car generates - takes place in the first few minutes of driving.

Does your car key share a chain with a dozen or more other keys? That weight, combined with bouncing while driving, can wear out the tumblers inside the ignition and lead to ignition switch failure.

Wipe rubber protectant (such as Armor-All) or silicone on your door and window weather-stripping. Avoid Oil based products, such as WD-40, as they can damage the rubber.
